About working in Carlyle

What makes this area different

Carlyle Lake stretches for miles and the private land along its fringes is a steady source of our work. Lake-adjacent parcels have a specific set of problems: brush that's taken over the view from the water, shoreline vegetation that needs thinning for access, boundary fence lines that have disappeared into the woods, and cabin yards with brush that's closed in over a decade of infrequent use.

Away from the lake, Clinton County is agricultural. Dairy history runs deep here, and while the operations are smaller now than they were, the fence lines and hedgerows from those generations remain — and they're ripe for reclamation. We do real work on Clinton County pastures every month.

Hunters love the Carlyle area. The mix of ag, timber, and water makes it prime whitetail ground, and hunting tract work — shooting lanes, food plots, trail networks, canopy raising — is a meaningful piece of our schedule here.

Local context

Carlyle Lake itself is US Army Corps of Engineers land and isn't work we bid on directly. But the private parcels around it — cabins, year-round residences, hunting tracts, and farms whose edges touch the lake — represent one of the densest clusters of forestry mulching opportunity in Southern Illinois. Being based 35 minutes away in Patoka lets us work the Carlyle area regularly without the travel cost that pushes out-of-region crews.

Special considerations for Carlyle

Lake-adjacent work has a visibility factor — your neighbors across the water can see the results. We stage and work with that in mind: no burn piles left as eyesores, no debris drifting into the water, finished edges that look intentional.
