Quick Answer
Vandalia is as close as it gets to home for us — twenty-five minutes up Route 51 and we're on site. Fayette County work is a big piece of our weekly schedule: Vandalia Lake recreational parcels, Kaskaskia River bottom ground, working farms across the prairie north and east of town, and hunting tracts that make up a lot of the county's rural acreage.
What makes this area different
Fayette County has a split landscape. Flat to gently rolling prairie north and east of Vandalia, good soil, classic Southern Illinois row-crop country. And then along the Kaskaskia River, bottom ground with timber stands, wetland pockets, and recreational acreage. The two kinds of ground create two kinds of work for us.
On the prairie side, fence line clearing and pasture reclamation are dominant. Hedgerows that have grown out over twenty years have shrunk fields by real margins, and working farmers here know the math. On the river side, the work is more selective — opening up trails, cutting shooting lanes, thinning canopy on hunting tracts while leaving the mast trees and hardwoods in place.
Vandalia Lake is a draw for recreational buyers. Lake-adjacent parcels often need shoreline brush work, boundary clearing, and access lane cut-ins. We handle all of it.
Local context
Vandalia's history as the old Illinois state capital shows up in the mix of historic homes with mature trees, established neighborhoods that occasionally need big-stump grinding work, and a surrounding rural area that's stayed genuinely rural. The town itself is compact; the real volume of our work here is on the rural acreage in the township and out toward Brownstown and Ramsey.
